Behaviour Support Practitioners
Choice for Champions offers highly individualised and person centred behaviour support. Our practitioners are registered with the NDIS and are proficient level accredited Behaviour Support Practitioners, with extensive experience supporting children and adolescents with additional needs. We work closely with participants and their families to tailor behaviour support plans which respect participants choices and improve their quality of life. Our practitioners understand the intersection of additional needs and the function of behaviour and conduct holistic functional behaviour analysis which empowers individuals to achieve positive change.
Our Director : Allied Health Professional and Educator
Mrs Belinda Keam has most recently worked in a multidisciplinary allied health clinic as a senior therapist, key worker and capacity builder for both NDIS and private clients. Belinda specialises in guiding families as a key worker through both direct and indirect functional behavioural analysis. With an extensive knowledge of disability and disorder, gathered from 17 years as an educator, Belinda is dedicated to enhancing a client’s functional capacity in language acquisition, communication and social skill development. Belinda works intensively to improve her client’s cognitive and executive functioning capacities improving a client’s ability to learn new skills. As an NDIS accredited Behavioural Support Practitioner, Belinda understands the ‘why’ and assists clients to develop strategies, confidences and changes in their approach by drawing on her extensive working knowledge of disability. Belinda has 17 years of teaching experience in inclusive education and catering to the needs of diverse clients. Belinda enjoys consulting with allied health professionals, families and carers to provide holistic support to clients with additional needs. Belinda understands the impact of disability on a client’s wellbeing and works to level the playing field, so clients feel valued in a safe and supported environment. Belinda assists parents to understand their child’s diagnosis and how this impacts on their functioning and behaviours. She believes that all clients deserve the opportunity to achieve to their potential. Belinda is also a Clinical Level Trained Animal Assisted Therapist accredited with Therapy Dogs Australia.
Defending Champions
Key Workers, Capacity Building
Defending Champions offers specialist capacity building for neurodivergent children and adolescents. Capacity building in improved daily living skills assists participants with improvements in their individual functioning, builds relationships skills and widens their access to community. Our practice employs the Key Worker model and by listening to families we can direct participants to specialist supports and suggest any additional assessments that may be required. Participants have the option of the added benefit of experiencing animal assisted therapy as an accompaniment to their therapy. Our therapy dog, Cleo, and handler are accredited with Therapy Dogs Australia.
