Our Services
In an inclusive education setting all students are entitled to be able to fully participate in learning alongside their peers. Diverse learners also deserve equal access to the curriculum. Students with additional needs and different learning styles may require Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments (AARAs). Our practitioners can discuss with parents and students which AARAs are appropriate to be implemented to support their access to education. Suitable AARA implementation is crucial for examinations to ensure students have access to the adjustments and technologies required for assessment.
What we offer
Inclusive Education Consultancy
Key Worker, Capacity Builder
Navigating a new diagnosis is not an easy time for parents and carers. It is equally difficult when your child is struggling with their daily living skills. Defending Champions can offer support with the process of identification and understanding a disability or learning disorder. We possess expertise in understanding assessments and explaining the cognitive and executive functioning profile of your child. We can explain the results of specialist reports and their application to a child’s functioning. We provide a holistic approach to identify your child’s developmental needs. Is my child entitled to NDIS? What additional therapists may my child require? Defending Champions can answer these questions and support parents and carers through this challenging time. With years of experience in capacity building, our practitioners can provide intensive support to improve your child’s daily living skills.
Behaviour Support
Our practitioners are registered with the NDIS. Proficient level behaviour support practitioners will work with participants and their families to identify behaviour of concern. Practitioners will respectfully engage with participants, offering choice and control, to replace behaviours of concern with positive behaviours. Making positive changes will widen windows of opportunity, access to community and enhance a participant’s overall quality of life. Our practitioners will identify behaviours of concern, complete an interim support plan within one month of initial interview. Practitioners will then work with the participant and their families to conduct a functional behaviour analysis and a comprehensive behaviour support plan. Practitioners will support the participant and their families to implement the plan, including the training of any external supports.
